Fahey Group to Focus on Expansion in Texas and California Green Technology Markets

McKINNEY, Texas – January 23, 2023 – Fahey Group, an innovative holdings company committed to growth in the green industry, has announced that it will concentrate on expanding its robotic mowing and related businesses in Texas and California to support the shift toward electric-powered solutions in those markets. As a result, Fahey Group will exit its hospitality businesses and lawn and garden supply businesses based in Ohio.

Fahey Group’s Robin Autopilot USA will continue to focus on its role as a leader in robotic mowing technology and the robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) platform. In Texas, the company plans to further expand in the dealership marketplace as well as invest in adjacent businesses. In California, Robin is launching an all-electric technology hub that will focus on software, electric hardware, and consolidation of the outdated dealership market to help the state convert to electric-powered equipment.

“We are committed to growth in the green industry, and by concentrating our efforts on Texas and California, we believe we can make the greatest impact in the conversion to all-electric solutions,” said Logan Fahey, Chief Executive Officer of Robin Autopilot and founder of Fahey Group. “However, this means we must exit our Ohio-based businesses so we can more fully dedicate our resources to expanding the robotic mowing business.”

A local operator based in Ohio, will take over the operation of Landmark Lawn and Garden Supply, which Fahey Group acquired in 2019. Oanest Bakery, located in the Cleveland, Ohio, campus district, will close. A critical decline in business since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic has made it no longer sustainable to operate the bakery. All employees at the bakery have been offered jobs in other businesses.

“We thank all of our employees in Ohio for the great work they have done, and we are proud of the difference the bakery made in so many lives as a social enterprise offering second-chance employment opportunities,” Fahey said.

Robin Autopilot Year-End Review

Friends,

For Robin Autopilot, 2020 was a pivotal year. We saw tremendous growth and progress, despite the challenges caused by Covid-19 and ever-changing market conditions.

Perhaps most notably, our team successfully transitioned the business from a franchisor service platform to a software company focused on Robots as a Service (RaaS). This new business model will allow us to empower landscaping companies to offer the benefits of robotic mowing for a growing number of lawns throughout the country.

All of our teams – Operations & Finance; Sales, Marketing & Business Development; Training & Support; and Software & Hardware Engineering – had a phenomenal year. In addition to transitioning our business model, we continued to strengthen our position as a market leader by evolving our technology offerings and expanding our value proposition to landscapers as well as our manufacturing partners.

Here are some of our most important accomplishments for the year:

·       As part of the business model transition, we launched the Powered by Robin™ platform during the first quarter, converting all franchises to subscribers, and enabling new landscapers to join the Robin platform through our subscription model.

·       We entered into a national partnership with Weed Man, USA, one of the largest lawn and garden companies in the world, to roll out robotics through their TurfBot brand.

·       We negotiated new supply agreements with all major manufacturers, allowing Robin to become a multi-manufacturer distributor for landscapers.

·       Our sales team continued its focus on mid-market landscapers across the United States, adding more than 40 new subscribers in 2020, all in the landscaping sector. We also took our story throughout the country with our #robotroadshow, meeting with landscapers one-on-one.

·       Our training and support team launched Robin University, a comprehensive set of in-person and virtual instruction programs for running a successful RaaS business. We also implemented a two-day orientation training program to help new subscribers integrate Powered by Robin™, and we launched Robin Library, a full-service resource center for all things robotic, including user manuals, marketing guides, and tips and tricks.

·       Our hardware engineering team introduced our brand-new patented wire break finder, which allows landscapers and service providers to find breaks faster (including partial breaks) and improve accuracy.

·       We revamped our patented robotic door to address hardware issues and to prepare the door for mass manufacturing in the United States and China. We also certified our robotic door and added accessories to allow the door to work with products from all major manufacturers.

·       We launched a new e-commerce platform, which allows all subscribers to seamlessly purchase new equipment, parts, and accessories, and to finance their purchases at the click of a button. We also launched our first-of-its-kind agnostic fleet management system for managing all robots in one central system.

·       We introduced a new financing system, automating the entire loan management and origination functions for all subscribers (including legacy financing).

·       We developed a “white-labeled” website for new subscribers, allowing users to brand the site under their own guidelines and utilize our autonomous quoting functionality.

·       Our Board of Directors added two new independent members – Joseph Paul, CFO of Davey Tree, and Jonathan Pototschnik, co-founder of Service Autopilot and CitiTurf.

All of these accomplishments have laid the foundation for strong growth in the future, and we are optimistic about 2021. Our goals for this year include:

·       Delivering RaaS to a total of 150 mid-market landscapers on the Robin platform (with a heavy focus on the Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Atlanta areas).

·       Distributing more than 1,000 robotic doors in the United States and securing a PO for the European market.

·       Deploying (through our subscribers) 3,600 individual robotic units across the United States.

·       Launching a full-service e-learning system and advanced in-classroom curriculum.

·       Adding up to three new manufacturers to the Robin platform (with a focus on commercial-grade equipment).

·       Launching our newly patented wire break finder.

·       Releasing the new Powered by Robin™ software suite, to include Fleet Console for all manufacturers, Surveyor, Robin Forums, and full customer relationship management (CRM) integration.

Through these efforts, we are enabling landscapers and service providers alike to take advantage of RaaS to generate bottom-line impact, environmental change, and innovation across the green industry. As we continue to pursue this vision, we thank you and look forward to your ongoing support in 2021 and beyond.

Robin Robotic Doors Introduces Patented Guidance System That Opens New Doors for Robotic Mowers

IRVING, Texas – [September 10, 2020] – Robin Robotic Doors, a leading innovator in technology for the rapidly growing robotic mowing market, has introduced a new guidance system that enables robotic mowers to maneuver through smaller gates and tighter spaces.

Patent number 10,767,383, Ground Wire Guidance System for Robotic Vehicle with Doorway Access, was issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on September 8, 2020 to Robin Autopilot Legacy IP, LLC, doing business as Robin Robotic Doors. The guidance system works in conjunction with the company’s previously patented robotic lawn mower door, which allows mowers to move through fences securely and with ease.

The new technology consists of a perimeter switching system that enables robotic mowers to move through smaller doors than previously possible. Working with the Robin automated lawn mower door, the new switching system allows the mower to move through smaller openings in fences that separate backyards from front yards, for example, and then return to its charging base in the backyard. The lawn mower door senses the robot, unlocks, and then relocks itself after the robot has passed through to keep the backyard along with pets and children secure. The new guidance system also can assist the robotic mower in its navigation through tight spaces within the landscape.

The guidance system and door are available to all Robin Autopilot members. In addition, Robin Robotic Doors is selling its auto-locking robot doors with the new guidance system to other robotic mower manufacturers, retailers and service companies that want to purchase doors in volume.

“Our goal is to be the leading innovator in the rapidly growing robotic mowing industry,” said Logan Fahey, board member of Robin Robotic Doors, and chief executive officer of Robin Autopilot Holdings LLC, the majority owner of Robin Robotic Doors. “We are excited to announce this latest enhancement to our automated door system, which expands the area that a single robotic mower can cover. Our development team continues to work on new technology that will further enhance our products and systems, and we expect to announce additional patents in the near future. This is truly an exciting time for the robotic mowing industry.”

About Robin Robotic Doors As pioneers in robotic mowing technology, Robin Robotic Doors has developed a portfolio of robotic door patents. This technology allows robotic mowers to operate in areas with obstacles such as fences and narrow passageways, and its patented robot doors allow robotic mowers to pass through fences and lock automatically to keep children and pets safe and enclosed areas of the property secure. For more information on purchasing these doors or licensing our robotic door technology, please contact Matthew Sekelick at doors@robinautopilot.com.

About Robin Autopilot Holdings

Robin Autopilot offers its customers a platform to enable landscapers to install, operate and manage robotic mowers from multiple manufacturers.  These robotic mowers are battery-powered, programmable, energy- and cost-efficient and are virtually silent when operating. They can be used daily to keep a lawn trimmed to a precise length, resulting in a healthier, more attractive landscape, with pollution-reducing benefits equivalent to replacing two family cars with electric vehicles. This allows landscapers and lawn maintenance crews to deliver a more reliable, affordable, and eco-friendly lawn care solution than traditional gas-powered mowing. The robotic mowers also offer a solution for landscape service providers who are challenged by a lack of an available and reliable workforce in many markets.

Fahey Group Acquires Robin Autopilot, a Rapidly Growing Innovator in Robotic Mowing Technology

CLEVELAND, Ohio – July 7th, 2019 – A Cleveland-based group led by entrepreneur Logan Fahey is making a key investment in innovative robotics technology that is changing the future of the landscape services industry. Fahey Group, LLC has acquired Robin Autopilot, a rapidly growing pioneer in robotic mowers for the U.S. market.

Robin Autopilot mowers are battery-powered, programmable and energy- and cost-efficient. They can be used daily to keep a lawn trimmed to a precise length, resulting in a healthier, more attractive landscape, with pollution-reducing benefits equivalent to replacing two family cars with electric vehicles. The automated mowers also offer significant cost savings for landscape service providers who are challenged by a lack of available workforce in many markets.

Founded in 2015 by Justin Crandall and Bart Lomont, Robin Autopilot operates through 15 franchisees in 12 states and has more than 1,000 customers with robotic mowers in use. Landmark Automation, a Fahey Group company, owns and operates the franchises in Cleveland, Ohio, and Tampa, Florida. Cleveland now has the largest single concentration of robotic mowers in the United States with more than 150 active mowers, and another 50 pre-sold.

Following the acquisition, Robin Autopilot will move its headquarters from Dallas to Cleveland. It also will continue its partnership with Cleveland-based MTD Products Inc., a worldwide leading producer of outdoor power equipment. MTD produces the robotic mowers and is an original investor in Robin Autopilot.

“Headquartering the company in Cleveland where both Landmark and MTD are located can help streamline our service and deployment collaboration as we continue to expand the business and bring this technology to new markets,” said Logan Fahey, who will be Chief Executive Officer of the company. “In addition to our strong management team, the deal is backed by investors who have scaled similar businesses and believe robotic mowing represents the future of landscaping services.”

About Robin Autopilot

Robin Autopilot is the world’s first robotic lawn maintenance franchise, combining proven robotic mowing technology with highly professional installers and lawn maintenance crews to deliver a more reliable, affordable, and eco-friendly lawn care solution, all for a price less than traditional gas-powered mowing. A typical subscription service for the robotic mowers costs about $19 per week for consumers. This fee includes installation, maintenance, GPS tracking, wire repairs and theft protection. The mowers operate two to three hours a day.

About The Fahey Group

Fahey Group is a holdings company that owns and operates a series of companies including Fahey Advisors, Robin Autopilot, Landmark Lawn and Garden Supply, Landmark Automation, Total Property Contracting, and Chaplais and Fahey. The firm takes an innovation-led approach to helping businesses solve problems, grow and realize their goals. It is passionate about addressing challenges head-on and delivering results that last.

Landmark Automation Introduces Robin Autopilot Robotic Mowing Service to the Tampa Market

TAMPA, Florida and CLEVELAND, Ohio – December 12, 2018 – Landmark Automation is launching the Robin Autopilot lawn mowing service in Tampa, Florida, this month, as it continues to lead the way with disruptive robotic technology for the landscaping sector.

As seen on ABC’s Shark Tank,, Robin Autopilot is a full-service lawn maintenance solution that uses robotic lawn mowers that are battery-powered and emissions-free. The robots are quiet, can mow in the rain, and can be programmed for precise daily cutting for a greener, healthier lawn. Similar in concept to the highly popular robot vacuum cleaners that growing numbers of consumers are using in their homes, the Robin Autopilot mowers are eco-friendly, reliable and affordable. Robin Autopilot crews also use eco- friendly battery-powered edgers, trimmers, and blowers.

“With annual revenues of $93 billion and more than 1 million employees, the landscape services industry is a large market that has seen little to no innovation in the past several decades,” said Logan Fahey, Chief Executive Officer of Landmark Automation. “This is about to change with the introduction of Robin Autopilot. We believe this technology will provide a solution for landscape services to expand their businesses without over- extending their available workforce, while offering homeowners superior, reliable, and environmentally safe lawn maintenance.”

In addition to providing an alternative to gas-burning, pollution-emitting lawn mowers, the Robin Autopilot is a low-cost solution for consumers. Rather than having to buy an expensive mower, customers purchase a subscription service that costs as little at $19 per week and includes installation, maintenance, GPS tracking, wire repairs, and theft protection.

“We are excited to be partnering with Landmark Automation to offer this service in the Tampa area along with Northeast Ohio,” said Justin Crandall, Chief Executive Officer of Robin Autopilot. “Robin gives our customers a powerful way to limit air and noise pollution and keep their lawns looking fresh-cut every day, while helping bring about meaningful environmental change through their choice of lawn care service.”

Its fully electric robotic lawn care service can reduce as much pollution every week as replacing two family cars with electric vehicles. Robin Autopilot has been featured on ABC’s Shark Tank, CBS This Morning, and as part of TechCrunch Disrupt’s Startup Battlefield. Customers can sign up for robotic service at www.robinautopilot.com.

About Landmark Automation

Landmark Automation is a partnership of The Fahey Group, Landmark Lawn and Garden Supply Inc., and Total Property Contracting, all based in Northeast Ohio. As seen on ABC’s Shark Tank, the Robin Autopilot is a robotic lawn mower service that is battery-powered and emissions-free. The robots are quiet, can mow in the rain, and can be programmed for precise daily cutting for a greener, healthier lawn. Landmark will offer Robin Autopilot for pre-buy beginning November 1 for the 2019 season. Customers will be able to visit either of Landmark’s stores in Strongsville or Avon for a demonstration or visit cleveland.robinautopilot.com for more information.

“Robotic mowers are an exciting part of the future of lawn care, and Landmark is committed to helping our customers purchase, install and maintain them,” Fahey said. “This new offering will complement Landmark’s existing full line of lawn products, tools and services, and will strengthen our capability to be the one-stop shop for all of our customers’ lawn and garden supply needs. We have a tremendous customer base, a trusted brand and a long history of serving contractors and homeowners in the Northeast Ohio market. With the expansion of our offerings and the consolidation of our stores, the company is well-positioned for growth.”
